Aewol Coast Cafés & Handam Trail: what to see and do

A stretch of black lava coast where cafés with big sea windows face the water and a short trail follows the shore.
Known for
- Handam Coastal Trail along the lava shore
- Gwakji Beach, a calm sandy cove
- Seaside cafés in Aewol and Handam
What to do
Walk the Handam Coastal Trail between Gwakji and Aewol, then settle into a sea-view café. Late afternoon light on the dark rocks is the best time for photos.
Tip: Buses run along the coast but not often, and the cafés are spread out, so a taxi or rental car works better.
