Saebyeol Oreum & the Western Oreum Fields: what to see and do

Open grassland dotted with small volcanic hills called oreum, where wind moves through the grass and the sky feels very wide.
Known for
- Saebyeol Oreum, a grassy cone with a short summit climb
- Geumoreum, an oreum with a crater lake
- Horses grazing on the open slopes
What to do
Climb Saebyeol Oreum for a view over the western plains and Hallasan, then visit Geumoreum for its crater lake. Both walks are short and good at sunset.
Tip: Poorly served by buses, so a taxi or rental car is much better. The hills are exposed to wind, so bring a layer.
