Gurye: what to see and do

A calm, rural county at the southern foot of Jirisan, with mountain temples, old houses and a river valley.
Known for
- Hwaeomsa, a large mountain temple on Jirisan's slope
- Bangsan Seowon, a Joseon-era Confucian academy
- Gurye Natural Dream Park, an organic food complex
What to do
Spend time at a temple such as Hwaeomsa or Munsusa and walk the quiet paths. Natural Dream Park has food workshops you can watch through glass, plus a restaurant for a meal.
Tip: Buses to the sights are infrequent, so a taxi or rental car is practical. Spring and autumn are the most scenic seasons.
