A lakeside city in the middle of the country, with old stone monuments, mountain scenery and hot springs.

- Seven-story stone pagoda at Tappyeong-ri by the river
- Mireuk Daewonji, temple ruins with a big stone Buddha
- Woraksan dock on Chungju Lake, the gateway to the lake
What to do
See the stone pagoda by the river, then ride a boat from the Woraksan dock. Suanbo, a hot spring town, makes a relaxing stop afterward.
Tip: Mireuk Daewonji and the Woraksan dock are far from the city centre, so plan on a taxi or a car.
