Muan: what to see and do

A flat coastal county of mudflats, pine-backed beaches and lotus ponds on the southwest coast.
Known for
- Hoesan Baengnyeonji, a pond of white lotus in summer
- Jogeumnaru Beach, a long sandy beach edged with pines
- Muan nakji, small octopus from the mudflats
What to do
Visit the lotus pond in high summer, when the white blooms open, then head to a pine-backed beach such as Jogeumnaru or Holtong. Try nakji, the local small octopus, at a restaurant in town.
Tip: Lotus flowers are at their best in July and August, and early morning is the quietest time.
