Gangjin: what to see and do

A slow southern town on a bay, with Joseon-era gardens, a poet's house and a long history of Goryeo celadon.
Known for
- Baegundong Garden, a preserved Joseon-era villa garden
- Hamel's lodging site, where a Dutch sailor lived
- Gaudo Island suspension bridge over the bay
What to do
Walk Baegundong Garden and the old Jeolla Byeongyeong fortress, then visit the birthplace of the poet Kim Yun-sik, known as Yeongnang. Cross the suspension bridge to Gaudo island for sea views.
Tip: The sights are spread across the county, so a car or taxi makes the day easier. Check the weather before going out to Gaudo.
