A large mountain county west of Ulsan, with the Yeongnam Alps ridges, old carvings and Silla-era legends.

What to do
Hike to Ganwoljae by the deer-farm route, an easy 6 km trail to a silver grass ridge, then see the Bangudae rock carvings.
Tip: Silver grass peaks in autumn and weekends bring many hikers. Start early and bring a layer for the windy ridge.
