Ganghwa-gun: what to see and do

A large island northwest of Seoul where prehistoric stones and old coastal forts sit among fields and sea.
Known for
- Ganghwa Dolmen sites (UNESCO World Heritage)
- Chojijin Fortress, a coastal fort dating from 1655
- Samnangseong, an old mountain fortress
What to do
See the dolmens, then visit Chojijin Fortress and Samnangseong. Add Gyodong Island for a slower, rural day.
Tip: Local buses run but are infrequent, so a car or taxi makes a day trip much easier.
